The President of Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora, Comrade James
Erebuoye, has called for patience and understanding with Senator Ali
Modu Sheriff, the embattled factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Nigeria.
A press release from the group said Erebuoye was saddened by the
conflicting court judgments which have tended to derail the PDP as a
Party, but urged the warring factions in the party to amicably settle
their differences
“This is not the time for internal bickering for positions and power,
the leadership of the PDP should use this period for sober reflections.
“This period of postponement by one year should be properly utilised to
bring about a lasting peace to the PDP and save the masses.
“The Sheriff I know as two-time Governor and three time senator is a
bridge builder, man of peace and philanthropists; people should stop
portraying him in bad light because that is not his nature.
” If you cast your mind back, you will discover that Sheriff has the
wherewithal to take the PDP back to power if given the opportunity”, it
said.
Erebuoye disclosed that whatever is the cause of disagreement between
Sheriff and his colleagues in the PDP should be treated as a “family
affair”.
Meanwhile, the Niger Delta Renaissance Organisation (NDRO) has
condemned the call for the arrest of Sheriff by the Attorney-General of
Borno State, Hon. Kaka Shehu Lawan, describing it as an act of
blackmail.
